1. Protect your skin from the sun. While we love these long sunny days, too much sun exposure will give us wrinkles and sun damage in the long run. Wear at least SPF 30 on your face, lips, ears, and other areas of exposed skin. UPF clothing and sun hats are also great, if you're not excited about the chemicals in sunscreen. I carry a nice lip sunscreen from MD solar sciences in the clinic that is moisturizing and nicely tinted, as well as an oil-free sunscreen, which won't clog your pores and is great to wear after microneedling.
2. Drink plenty of fluids. Women need to drink about 3 liters of water per day, more if you're exercising, out in the heat, or live in a dry climate like the Roaring Fork Valley. Make your water more exciting with mint, cucumber, or melon pieces, and add in some green tea as well to stay hydrated all season long. If you're drinking lots, your urine is clear, but you're still feeling thirsty or dry, come see me! Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can help you metabolize water better so that the liquids you drink moisturize your skin and eyes properly.
3. Watch your alcohol consumption. Sadly, wine is a major contributor to dehydration, dry skin, and wrinkles. Choosing a low-sugar option, such as those from Dry Farm Wines is one way to make sure your rosé isn't affecting your complexion.

4. Supplement with moisture-boosting herbs. Tremella mushroom, AKA wood ear mushroom, and bai mu er in Chinese, is an herb used to increase body fluids and moisturize your skin from the inside out. When I take it regularly, I notice that my hands and lips feel smooth and supple, even in our horrendously dry climate. I carry tremella mushroom powder in the clinic, and if you're feeling dry I highly recommend you try it. It's a light powder easily mixed in tea, coffee, or hot water. I carry tremella mushroom matcha as well, for my fellow matcha latte lovers!
5. Get enough sleep. A great rule of thumb, for every season, is to try to sleep with the sun. In Summer, we don't need as much sleep, but about 10PM-6AM is a great sleep schedule to ensure you get your full eight hours needed to fully renew your skin cells every night. For best sleep quality, make sure your room is dark and cool, and try a short walk outside before bed to unwind from your day. If you're having trouble with sleep--falling asleep, staying asleep, waking with racing thoughts, etc., I can help! Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are INCREDIBLE at improving sleep quality, and thus making everything better, including your skin.
