At The Glow Studio, I now offer microneedling, and I want to let you know why I think it's such an amazing option for those of us who want to look our best, naturally.

As an acupuncturist, I am licensed to perform microneedling in Colorado. Estheticians, nurses and doctors are also qualified to perform microneedling here, but in states like California and New York, only acupuncturists and medical professionals are permitted to do it. That's because the needles do penetrate the skin, just like acupuncture needles do. In fact, the origins of microneedling lie in Chinese medicine, with the Emperor and Empress of China using it to keep their youthful glow even thousands of years ago! Since I already specialize in cosmetic acupuncture, I wanted to expand my offerings by investing in a microneedling system to help my clients age as gracefully as possible.

My microneedling pen contains 12 tiny needles within its tip, and I use it just like a wand or pen to "erase" your wrinkles and age spots. The tiny needles create invisible holes in the top layer of your skin, the epidermis, to allow whatever you put on your skin to access the dermis, your second layer of skin, where collagen is made, without injuring the epidermis, keeping your keratinocyte cells intact so that they can properly communicate with the fibroblast cells in your dermis to continue to make healthy skin cells.
Microneedling is a natural and healthy choice when compared to laser facials and microdermabrasion because it keeps your epidermis, your top layer of skin, healthy. You need your top layer of skin to be able to communicate with cells in the dermis to promote healthy skin cell regeneration throughout your life.
You can compare microneedling to the way we aerate soil before planting crops. The tiny holes we create in the dermis, only a half a millimeter deep, allow the serums I use to penetrate into the dermis and promote collagen production, erase sun damage, and even clear chronic acne. I use apple stem cells and Chinese herbal serums, which are unique to my practice here in Carbondale and align with my dedication to natural skin care. I have invested in a high-speed pen to ensure that your microneedling experience is comfortable, without the use of lidocaine creams for numbing your skin. Any redness or discomfort you experience should disappear within a few hours of your procedure, and other than being sure you protect yourself from the sun the day of your session, you don't need to worry about recovery time or looking red and bloody after your treatment. Microneedling at The Glow Studio is gentle, natural, and very effective. You'll notice results after just one treatment, and your skin's appearance will continue to improve over the weeks following your treatment. One treatment per month is recommended until you achieve your desired results, which usually takes about 4 months. I'm excited to use my new tool and share before and after photos of some incredible results!
